CULT+KING® CREAMPOP | Conditioning Cleanser for Hair | Transform your routine for clean, shiny, bouncy, soft hair.

Gently cleanse and condition without stripping hair. Say goodbye to the old-school routine of traditional shampoo that strips your hair of natural oils and shortens the life of your color, then slathering on silicone-filled conditioner to restore the appearance of moisture and shine. With CREAMPOP Conditioning Cleanser, you are one and done, and your hair will love you for it.

We have an extraordinary product called CREAMPOP, which is a co-wash. Many people outside of hairdressing and the curly hair community have never heard of co-washing before. Co-washing, or conditioner washing, involves using conditioner instead of shampoo to preserve moisture and enhance curl formation. Eliminating the shampoo circumvents the vicious cycle of overwashing and overstripping the hair with shampoo surfactants. Because shampoo surfactants make hair and scalp so brutally clean, all sorts of synthetics had to be invented to coat the hair and make it feel better. The average person can’t easily wash and condition their hair without the silicones and Quats (Quaternary Ammonium Compounds) hiding in most products. These coat your hair, making it feel better initially, but cause problems like build-up for you and environmental problems when washed down the drain.

So here we are in modern society with what we call the “dumb shampoo cycle” that human beings created for themselves. It’s a less than a hundred-year-old problem with the first synthetic shampoo introduced in the 30s. You shampoo, strip the hair and scalp, it’s too dry and needs conditioning, you add conditioners that cause build up, they can only be removed by shampooing, starts all over again.

As the shampoo surfactants got stronger and left hair feeling terrible, the cheap softening ingredients using repurposed leftovers from the Industrial Revolution had to get stronger, too. Once mineral oil, petroleum, silicones, Quats, and other heavy coating ingredients were introduced to hair care, the immediate side effect was buildup. What is the marketing solution to remove these heavy coatings? Extra-strength cleansing shampoos with even harsher sulfate surfactants. So, just to be clear, harsh surfactants are introduced, causing dry, tangled hair. They add in synthetic softeners that build up on hair to counter it. Now, you constantly have to strip your hair of these coatings to apply the coatings over and over.

This story is about big business trying to sell you things, not a thoughtful, healthy approach to hair care.

This is where co-washing comes in. Skip the shampoo surfactants that brutalize the hair and scalp. But conditioner alone isn’t enough. Co-wash must be formulated to gently clean without stripping your scalp and hair. It’s a tricky balance.

However, many co-wash products missed the memo on industrially manufactured quotas and silicones. They add them to their formulations, causing build-up that can only be removed with… shampoo.

Quats start off beneficial, acting like tiny, strong magnets that attach to damaged hair, initially making your hair feel wonderful, smooth, shiny, combable, and easy to style. However, with each use, quats continue to accumulate, building up on the hair and eventually having the opposite effect of their original intention. The hair becomes difficult to style, lifeless, and dull.

We had to think out of the box to create a co-wash that doesn’t have the environmentally damaging, skin and eye irritating, and permanently-charged Quats. We found solutions in Green Chemistry. Instead of an always-on charge that builds up and hurts the environment, we have a temporary charge in CREAMPOP. Enough of a charge to attach to damaged hair, making it shiny, smooth, and tangle-free. But not the hard-core industrial charge that normal Quats have. So CREAMPOP doesn’t build up on your hair, and it’s safe to rinse it down the drain.

It took five years to develop, but it’s uniquely ours and like nothing else on the market.
